Share

There is little doubt that identifying keywords and optimizing you marketing campaigns according to them is very important in the internet marketing industry. But good keyword research is a difficult process. One needs to go beyond the traditional methods of brainstorming and keyword researching. But, how to do that ? Thats exactly what we are going to show you in this article. Read on.

Steps to do this

STEP 1 : Keyword Research the Right Way

Start a keyword research from KC home page and enter keywords you want to base your research on. Set the number of results between 1500 to 3500 depending upon your topic. Click search to initiate.

Now add semantically related keywords to the list. LSI keywords are nothing but synonym keywords in context of the search engine optimization. To add LSI keywords, click on the text LSI (located at the bottom of window).

Manually add relevant keywords by clicking ‘add’ from the list. Save this list by using the export tab located at the top of the window.

STEP 2 : Getting Competitor Keywords

In this step, we will discover the keywords that your competitors are focusing on in their SEO and PPC promotion strategy. Incorporating these keywords ensures that you are targeting all the keywords that your competitors are targeting. This step alone takes you leaps ahead of your competitors.

We will begin the process by finding competitors who are competing against you in your niche.

  • Click rip competitors keywords from KC homepage
  • Enter the seed keywords or competitors urls to dig and analyze the competitor pages. You can add keywords or URLs or keywords and urls simultaneously as well in the basic analysis window.
  • Click ANALYZE to being searching for competitor keywords

Advanced users can used the advanced version of this tool. To use, click on the advanced tab located at the top. The two adjacent boxes take inputs as keywords and urls.

Left Box Input : Keywords

Click inside the box to enter keyword. You can enter multiple keywords here , press enter after typing a new keyword.

By default, top 10 Urls are selected for each keyword entered from each of the sources(sources are located at the bottom of the box, select/deselct as per your need ). To manually select the competitor’s URLs, click on the link located to the right of the corresponding keyword (click “let me choose urls”). New pop-up windows shows the list of Urls.

You can review the Urls for every keyword and may deselect the irrelevant ones. In case you need more competeting URLS click get more (located at the bottom of the page).

Once are you done filtering irrelevant Urls click done. You will be taken back to previous window.

Right Box Input : Domains or Website Urls

If you know of any competing websites, then you can enter their Urls here otherwise you can skip this box and straight away click analyze.

To add competitor’s urls , enter the urls one by one as you did with keywords and repeat the manual selection procedure by clicking the link “and 10 of its URLs selected”. Click done after you select the URLs.

Lastly click analyze to start analyzing the competitors.

You will be taken to a new window.

You main motive from the analysis should be to dig keywords that your successful competitors are extensively using. Make a list of the keywords you find in this process we will use it in the next step.
